The Lumix G7: Captures before, during & after with one shot

The first camera to capture 30 frames before and 30 frames after with one press of the shutter. See, select and save your favourite moments as high-resolution stills. Enjoy more choice with every shot. Now that's chaging photography.

Highlights

4K Video and 4K Photo — Capture the Perfect Moment

Special moments you want to remember can occur at any time and should be captured in the best resolution possible. Now Panasonic's 4K technology is available for everyone. With the introduction of the new LUMIX G7, you will be able to record video in 4K (up to QFHD: 3840 x 2160 pixels, 25 fps, 100Mbit/s).

Furthermore, with the 4K Photo feature, you can extract the perfect frame out of a 4K video (30 frames per second) sequence easily on the camera and save it as an 8 megapixel still image.

The hybrid LUMIX G7 frees your creativity for both video and photo.

Focus on the Moment

Be ready to grab the next sudden shutter opportunity. Adding Depth From Defocus (DFD) Auto Focus (AF) technology* to Contrast AF has achieved both higher precision and greater speed at approximately 0,07 seconds**. This combines with approximately 200% AF Tracking performance***, 8 frames per second burst shooting in full resolution, and UHS-II SDXC Memory Card compatibility to turn those once-in-a-lifetime moments into memories that last forever.

Contrast AF with DFD technology works only with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds lenses.
In AFS, with the H-FS14140.

Everything in the Right Place

Not only does the LUMIX G7 feature a stylish, sophisticated body and a snug, hand-fitting grip, it also provides an intuitive level of operation. The Live View Finder (LVF) helps you to frame your images even under bright sunlight conditions, and the body design allows you to freely customise settings. The front/rear dials control the main aperture and shutter speed settings, while easily switching to handle temporary WB and ISO adjustments. Settings can also be assigned to six function buttons.* In addition, the 4K Photo mode can quickly be active by using the 4K Photo feature on the drive mode dial.

Six buttons on the body and five buttons on the menu.

4K Video — More Details Than Full HD

Whether you are watching movies or editing videos, 4K delivers a far more intense viewing experience than you have seen before. Its native resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels is four times larger than Full HD, resulting in a much higher level of detail. Even if you export your footage filmed in 4K to a Full HD TV, the video files will have even better definition and crisper details than those filmed in Full HD.

When recording videos in 4K, use a card rated as UHS Speed Class 3.

4K Photo — Capture the Perfect Moment

Using the high resolution of 4K, Panasonic LUMIX G7 camera introduces the new 4K Photo function which allows you to extract individual frames from a video sequence (filmed at 30 frames per second) to capture those magical moments that only occur at a split second. With 4K Photo you can always be assured that you have the freedom to decide on your very own 'perfect moment'.

4K Photo Modes – Free Your Creativity

The 4K Photo function can be used in three different modes, all allowing you to capture that perfect moment at a high burst rate of 30 frames per second:

4K Burst

This is a function that you can use more like using photo burst shooting mode. The camera keeps on shooting 8 megapixel images at ultra high burst rate as long as the shutter button is pressed.

4K Burst S/S (Start/Stop)

This function is the standard 4K Photo function where you are able to record a 4K movie to extract any frame as an 8 megapixel image later. You can relax and wait for the moment to come.

4K Pre-Burst

The specialty of the '4K Pre-Burst' mode is that the camera starts recording a 4K video sequence even one second before/after you press the shutter button. This allows you to capture an unpredictable moment which happens much faster than you are able to react. You can get extra 60 images to choose the best frame.

Focusing Performance

High Speed Auto-Focusing with DFD Technology

Capture even the fastest moving action thanks to Panasonic's Depth From Defocus (DFD) Auto Focus (AF) technology*. The LUMIX G7 features this brand new technology instantly calculating the distance between the items inside the frame and drives the focus of the lens in one fast, continuous movement. This new system results in AF speeds up to 0,07 seconds** and a burst shooting speed with AFC of 6 frames per second. It also increases the stability of continuous focusing when shooting video.

Contrast AF with DFD technology works only with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds lenses.
In AFS, with the H-FS14140

Fast and Precise AF Tracking

With the new algorithm of AF Tracking, not only the colour but also the size and motion vector of the target are recognised, enabling the camera to lock on the subject even more securely. The result is the AF tracking performance of approximately 200% or greater which stops the camera from losing the subject.

Panasonic comparison with LUMIX G6.

Focusing in Low Light Conditions — Star Light AF

Low Light AF makes it possible to focus subjects more precisely in -4EV low light situations, like moonlight with no other light source.
Furthermore, the LUMIX G7 newly integrates the Starlight AF to let you shoot a star in the night sky with auto focus by accurate calculation of the contrast value in a smaller AF zone.

High Image Quality

Even in Low Light Conditions

The 16 megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor in combination with the Venus Engine provides high quality image capture and high speed signal processing. The superior noise reduction system enables crisp images even in low light conditions up to ISO 25,600.
The Venus Engine also excels in diffraction compensation to make images crisp and clear even when shooting with a small aperture.

Design & Control

Perfect Sight and Framing

The LUMIX G7 comes with a high-resolution (2,360k-dot) OLED Live View Finder which allows high visibility thanks to a 10,000:1 contrast and perfect framing even under direct sunlight conditions. Thanks to the settings displayed right in front of your eye, your pictures will come out exactly as you intend.

A rear monitor also features higher visibility even for sunny outdoor shooting. And, the tilt/swivel touch-display gives you the freedom to find unusual perspectives while maintaining easy operation and full image control.

Focus Peaking

To give the most precise focus control possible, the LUMIX G7 has a manual focus peaking function, that shows you which area is in focus and how far the depth of field extends. Areas in focus are displayed on the screen in colour to make sure you have the area you want perfectly sharp and in-focus everytime.

Silent Shooting

There are many situations when you want your camera to be absolutely silent such as taking pictures of animals or at a classic concert. When using the electronic shutter of LUMIX G Cameras, the mirrorless system is considered noiseless thanks to the fast and silent AF-System in the lenses and the lack of shutter noise. Silent shooting with LUMIX G opens areas of photography that are out of reach for other photographers.

Fast and Accurate AF

Unwire Your Creativity via Wi-Fi®

The connectivity features of LUMIX G7 expand the usability of your camera in many ways.

The camera can be controlled by using the 'Panasonic Image App' on your smartphone or tablet device enabling you to view the image, set the focus, release the shutter from a distance or review photographs on the large screen of your tablet. You can even easily share your images via social media.

Easy Sharing

Share your favourite moments easily by drag-and-drop on social medias using on your smartphone or tablet

Geotagging

The LUMIX G7 knows exactly where it is by using the GPS log/tag of your smartphone or tablet. By geotagging your images, you will be able to have the information where the picture was taken automatically attached to the image.

Expandability for Flexible Usage

To offer more flexible usage, the LUMIX G7 can be combined with the DMW-FL580L External Flash, the DMW-MS2 Stereo/Shotgun Microphone and many other accessories.

The LUMIX G7 is also compatible with the latest high performance BUS Class UHS-I/UHS-II SDXC/SDHC memory cards which are capable of storing all of your high-resolution 4K videos, 4K Photos and burst shooting pictures in RAW files.
