The Compact RAID is one of the smallest versatile storage appliances in the market. It weights just a little over a pound in roughly the size of a 4" cube. Despite its compact size, the Compact RAID packs with the power, features and capabilities equivalent to many large RAID storage devices that are 2 - 3 times more expensive.
The Compact RAID can accomodate as many as five 2.5" hard drives or SSD. The drives are easily added or removed from the unit like a tape cartridge without any special tool. RAID configurations is set via a simple dip switch on the back of the unit. Come built-in with a powerful RAID engine and a high speed eSATA connnection, the Compact RAID can deliver a screaming throughput up to 300 Mbytes/sec.
The Compact RAID is fully OS independent. It can be connected to any computer running Windows, Linux or Mac OS. The eSATA port can also be converted to USB 3.0/2.0 connection with the addition of the Addonics optional USB 3.0 - eSATA adapter. The power and the small size of the Compact RAID make it an ideal high performance RAID storage solution in varieties of applications, particularly in mobile enviornment or for situation with limitation of space or power.
