The TerraMaster F4-NAS is a 4-bay network attached storage (NAS) device, professionally designed for use in a SOHO environment.  With excellent system performance and low power consumption, the F4-NAS provides high reliability and stability for high volume data transmission. Cross-platform data sharing and comprehensive business application services included also ensures efficient operation and data security.

The TerraMaster F4-NAS  providesa complete and economicalnetwork storage solution, it allows small and medium sizebusinesses to share and store data cost effectively. The F4-NAS is a multi-functional storage server that also supports iSCSI.

 

 

 

The F4-NAS features a Marvell 1.6 GHz CPU, 512MB DDRII, and can accommodate up to 4 3.5" SATA hard disks. It supports RAID levels of 0, 1, 5 and 6.  The F4-NAS comes with a Gigabit network port, as well as an USB port (supports USB device sharing) and an eSATA port.

 

F4-NAS supports cross-platform service for Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX; it supports file systems of EXT3/EXT4.  The F4-NAS includes a built-in iSCSI device application, iSCSI initiator and virtual disk drive to expand its NAS capacity.

The F4-NAS is a very capable multimeda storage centre.  The UPNP media server can support a series of media players and consoles, such as Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, etc; it is also compatible with most HD A/V media players, allowing the output of A/V files to TV in high definition.  Users can manage downloads of BT/FTP/HTTP with the F4-NAS remotely, making use of the unit's WEBDAV compatibility.  (Downloading from Apple store and Google Play will be needed.)

 

The F4-NAS supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10, Single and JBOD, RAID recovery, hard disk and power management status reporting, it also supports hot swapping of hard disks, allowing storage flexibility.

 

 

Administrators can easily expand the F4-NAS's NAS via the unique “External Virtual Hard Disk”. F4-NAS can connect to other iSCSI targets through its built-in iSCSI initiator. It can also work as the stack master and connects up to 8 stack targets.  The F4-NAS allows users to utilise the space in other network devices

 

Both NAS and iSCSI functions are supported by the F4-NAS, representing an IP-SAN solution with high efficiency and cost effectiveness. The iSCSI device supports up to 256 groups, can be used as an expansion for PC or server, or as a server for databases, emails, etc.  The F4-NAS supports the function of “Thin Provision” for iSCSI device setting, you can preset virtual space without actually using up physical storage space.

The F4-NAS supports Hard Drive Health Scan (HHS) for disk checking and bad blocks scanning by S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology).  It can deliver warning message by email, informing users to back up their data.

 

 

F4-NAS works with most backup software, such as Acronis True Image, CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup, EMC Retrospect, Symantec Backup Executive, etc.  It allows users to back up data from a PC to the F4 NAS, easily. The software supports real-time and scheduled data back up.

The data in F4-NAS can be backed up to another F4-NAS device, or backup to another server that supports Rsync.

The Mac user can back up data in Time Machine to the F4-NAS via network, eliminating the needs for use of the comparatively limited storage on a Macbook.

The F4-NAS features high speed USB ports for backing up to external hard drives. EXT3, EXT4, NTFS, and HFS+ file systems are supported to ensure compatibility with Windows, Mac® OS X, and Linux operating systems. Users can do real-time or scheduled backups, or synchronously back up data from NAS to external devices.
 
Cross-platform Sharing and data storage center

 

The Windows AD service enables the system administrator to retrieve user accounts from Windows AD servers to the F4-NAS, reducing time and effort needed for account setup. Users can use the same login names and passwords to access the F4-NAS. In addition, F4-NAS supports multiple accounts and groups establishment.

You can manage the files in server through internet explorer as F4-NAS provides a web file manager interface. With the functions of smart file retrieve, quantity upload/download/unzip, encrypted transmission and access rights settings, the users can share and store data safely.

F4-NAS supports the mounting of ISO images of CD and DVD discs for data archiving, storage, and sharing. This feature saves space from needing to store the physical discs, reducing the risk of data loss caused by prolonged use of the discs, and greatly enhances the access speed.

 

 

 

F4-NAS supports cross-platform operations, providing different utilities for users to share file data from different environments.

 

 

Administrator can set to display or hide sharing folders to protect data.

 

 

This option helps administrator to power on the F4-NAS remotely by Wake on LAN. The function helps to save power consumption and enhance safety.

Users can set the hark disk in standby mode if there is no data storage after a particular period of time has passed.

 

Create schedules to automatically turn on, turn off, or restart the F4-NAS.

 

 

IP Address filtering management: The administrator can allow or deny specified IP addressthat attempt to connect to theF4-NAS. SSL Security (HTTPS): the administrator can store and manage data through web page safely. Remote access F4-NAS via SSH (Secure Shell) F4-NASoffers secured data transfer with SSL/TLS (explicit) encryption. Passive FTP mode and band width management are also supported Smart FTP management: administrator can set the upper limit of FTP that gets online and accounts. Encrypted remote backup: The data onF4-NAScan be backed up to or from otherF4-NASor Rsync server over the network securely FTP write-only permission setting: administrator can define the authority to edit or download data, and to upload files via FTP.

 

 

The administrator can allow, deny or auto block specified IP address which attempt to connect to F4-NAS via SSH, Telnet, HTTP(S), FTP, Samba, or AFP.

 

File Server is for user to store and share files. What the users care most is whether the private data or secret files are accessed by others. F4-NAS allows administrator to create user ID and password, and define the authority and quota for each user, to protect data safety in the server.

 

 

As there is capacity limitation for email transmission, you can establish an FTP server withF4-NAS and share files conveniently to your colleagues or customers with just several steps in setting.

 

 

It takes much time and efforts for data backup, so F4-NAS provides enterprise-level technology and makes the backup more convenient and efficient. As there are some smart automatic backup software, it’s available to realize synchronous file backup mode, or backup data from multiple PC to Terra Master NAS.

 

 

You can replicate files from F4-NAS to other Terra Master NAS devices with encryption or not.

 

 

With the functions of Web server and virtual host, you can set up several websites under PHP and My SQL. F4-NAS supports HTTPS connection and SSL certificate, and it’s compatible with multiple applications, such as E-shop, personal Blog, CMS and Wiki software.

 

F4-NAS can works as a remote webpage server, or as another backup data-base.

 

 

You can connect printer with F4-NAS via USB, to share the function of printer via network.

 

 

F4-NAS can be served as multimedia storage center, it’s compatible with media player with UPNP function. You can play the photos and videos on TV without PC connection; you can listen to your favorite music or online radio with the same methods.

 

 

You can share your photos with your family members and friends around the world via F4-NAS. You can access and share the digital photos with the easy method.

 

 

F4-NAS is a good download helper without PC. F4-NAS supports BT/PT download, and FTP/HTTP download. As for BT/TP download, our software has built-in DHT mode, also improving the protocol communication effect between TCP and UDP, which improves BT download speed. You can feel as you are downloading via P2P at PC. The users can download through IE and manage the task.

 

 

Music fans and Apple product users are attractive by the function of music sharing. You can store the mp3 music to F4-NAS or play on MAC or Windows PC. The users can listen to the music stored in F4-NAS via the link only if opening iTunes software.

 

 

 

The rotation speed of the fan is adjusted to the current system temperature. Administrator can define the rotation speed.

 

Configure the SMTP server, SMSC server settings on F4-NAS in order to receive instant system warning or error messages by email, SMS

 

The administrator can upload a secure certificate and RSA private key in X.509PEM format issued by a trusted provider to allow access F4-NAS by secure SSL login.

 

All events and online records can be stored to Syslog server with the setting.

 

The files in NAS folder cancelled will be transferred to particular resource recycle folder. So you can restore files cancelled incaution.

 

Detailed logs of file-level access to F4-NAS via Samba, iSCSI, FTP, AFP, HTTP, HTTPS, Telnet, and SSH, and networking services accessed by online users can all be recorded.

 

The server administrator can get full information of the system via administrator utility page, such as: CPU unilization ratio, internal storage and useful space, sending/receiving and error packet, system power on, CPU temperature, system temperature, hard disk temperature.
