The same size as a 5.25” CD-ROM drive, the design of the PD520 makes intelligent use of chassis space. Not only can it accommodate a 3.5" hard drive but also a 2.5" HDD or 2.5" solid-state drive.
With a simple-to-use removable hard drive tray design, the PD520 makes inserting and removal of drives easy. It is no longer necessary to remove the workstation chassis side panel.

The PD520 series, which is backward compatible with 3.0/1.5 Gb/s, also supports SATA 6.0 Gb/s transmission bandwidth. Good Heat Dissipation Extends Life of the Hard Disk
The constant airflow provided by the PD520’s 4 cm silent fan dissipates the heat generated from the hard disks. This enables the hard drive to always operate at the manufacturer’s recommended operating temperature, extending the disk’s life and protecting its data.

For the features described above, hard disk removal can be supported only when the JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) function is used.
Convenient and Secure Removable HD Enclosure
STARDOM hard drive trays are designed with a safety lock and secure architecture to lock the hard drive in place. If one of the hard disks is corrupted, data integrity is maintained. Just replace it with a hard disk of the same model and capacity and the system will copy the original data to the new disk.
Still Worry about How to Store Hard Disks?
STARDOM features a protective case to hold the hard disk tray. The case is the same dimensions as standard VHS tapes, for ease of storage and comes with a label which can be used to identify the disk’s content.
Data in the Whole HD to Go
If your project files are too large to be transmitted via the internet, or you need to send the same data out for use with different devices, for example to edit photo or video files, the removable hard disk tray and protective case design is perfect for your requirements. Dependant on the model you choose, the disks can hold up to 4TB of data.

PD520-E2 comes with a SH2-E2 SATA (6 Gb/s) expansion card. It uses the latest PCI-Express 2.0 x 1 bus, which supports AHCI and plug and play. The most significant feature of SH2-E2 is the hybrid hardware, which allows you to use both SSD ultra-high available data rate, and the huge capacity of a 3.5" SATA hard drive. The SH2-E2, with its excellent transmission speed and capacity, meets the requirements of professional video editing, photograph editing and graphic design applications.
The hybrid architecture of the SH2-E2 comprises a 3.5" hard disk and a 2.5" solid state hard drive interface. The following reference benchmarks are obtained using large capacity 3.5” drives. Actual transmission rate would depend on the performance of the solid-state hard drive.
