What is DDR3RAM?

RAM is short for Random Access Memory. It is named random because the way that data can be accessed in any random order. RAM can be likened to your hard disk. It stores data, but for RAMs, data is erased once the computer is shutdown. It's volatile. RAM is only responsible for the current memory of your computer. It handles the memory that your computer is handling when you're using it. For example, you have your Microsoft word opened plus a couple of browsers. The DDR-3 RAM is one of the latest RAM standards. It stands for Double Data Rate Type Three Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory. It is a dynamic RAM (DRAM) which has a high bandwidth and faster data rates compared to its predecessor. It also utilizes 30% less power than the previous standard.

Why do you need more RAM for your computer?

Your RAM will limit the quantity of applications that you could open simultaneously. If you're a heavy multitasker, then you definitely need more RAM, around 2GB to 4GB.
